Meet Ms. Sarah
I'm Ms. Sarah Olson- the owner and teacher at Hundred Acre Play Care. I've always known that I would be a teacher "when I grew up". I have a natural love for helping children explore, discover, & understand the workings of the world around them and a passion for protecting the joys of childhood through child-led, play based learning.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education & WI teaching license from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and have spent time teaching for both the Holmen and Madison Metropolitan School Districts as well as child care programs specializing in Early Childhood care.
In addition to being a teacher, I am a mother. I have three boys of my own and my in home program (formerly called- Olson Family Child Care, est. 2014) was born from my passion to provide a high quality home program for them and other children.
The highest professional complement I've ever been paid was from a two-year-old who told me "Sarah, I love living at your house". That safe, loved, happy feeling he had is exactly what I strive for with all of my children.

Our Enviornment
Our environment is one of the most important pieces of our child care program. It serves to inspire, provoke wonder, and build confidence. Everything in our environment is thoughtfully chosen and placed with a reason and meaning. The children’s needs, wants, interests, and development drive what teachers will choose to place in the environment and the children are the ones who will decide how and when to use things. We have licensed approximately three times the number of square feet required by licensing for our group size to give children the freedom to move and the opportunity to choose many different activities with their peers or spend time alone- whichever will meet their need at the moment.
Outdoor Space
Outdoors, our-fully fenced in-backyard play space has been designed to meet the needs of young, growing children and offers opportunities for swinging, sliding, climbing, balance, dramatic play, and more. Our outdoor environment is a real one- with trees, grass, flowers, bugs, animals, gardens, sand, water- everything a child should experience so that they can feel the joy of nature.

Program Qualifications
Licensed Family Child Care:

Program is visited in person and assessed annually by our Licensing Specialist
-Education and Training Requirements are verified annually. Ms. Sarah has a verified Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and is trained in SIDS Prevention, Abusive Head Trauma Prevention, CPR & First Aid, & Mandated Reporting, in addition to completing an annual minimum of 15 hours of professional development.
-Background checks are on file with the state for household members over the age of 10 and all household members over the age of 18 have passed a federal fingerprint check.
-Program is reviewed annually to ensure all licensing codes are met.
Accredited Program:
Satellite Family Child Care System
Quarterly in person visits with our Accreditation Specialist and bi-annual program review and re-accreditation process.
- We participate in at least 4, multi-hour, in-person visits, during care hours, with our accreditation specialist each year.
-Accreditation includes an in depth review of standards that include a program evaluation on: Interactions & Relationships, Physical Environment, Equipment, & Materials, Daily Program for Children, Supporting Children's Development, Health/Safety/Nutrition, and Business Management & Professionalism. Each section of standards is observed in our classroom and Accreditation culminates with a full day visit from our specialist to grant completion.
-Requires an additional 5 hours of professional development annually.
YoungStar Provider
Bi-annually reviewed and supported by a YoungStar Coach.
-YoungStar provides a rating based on program quality. We are a 5/5 star program.
-Our YoungStar participation allows HAPC to accept Wisconsin Shares subsidy funding for families with a qualifying income level.
